I officially completed my first week of overnight shifts including my last week of school – YES! Moving to the overnight team required me to adjust basically everything. The most challenging part was losing time with my family and my boyfriend. This week was extra busy considering I had to get my final projects done for school. Since I started overnight I had been adjusting my sleeping schedule, the time I spend in the gym and with my friends and family. I have been trying to find a regular routine but have not been able to get into one yet. Currently, my sleeping schedule is everywhere, sometimes I go home and sleep right away or I stay up and go to the gym and do other things before crashing. I was hoping to get started on my 30 day yoga challenge this last week but it looks like I have been struggling to even get the ball rolling on that one. I am hoping this Monday, April 11 I can get started. Overnight has been quite a challenge and has really had me reconsider my decision about taking on this night position. I have found more cons then pros lately, and a big part of it is because I am clashing schedules with my boyfriend. He is also a lemon educator, but a day-time lemon. Which means, when I finish working he starts and when he gets off I am sleeping and shortly after heading back to work. Likewise, my family is gone by the time I get home, they all leave for their day-time obligations.
I know with time I will find a routine and I am hoping I can find more pros. I am going to be more optimistic about these overnight shifts. The overnight staff is great and full of energy! The vibes they have are through the roof, and I am grateful for such a supportive night team. I’ll be sure to keep you all posted on my night shifts and with my April month goals.
